Biography
A biography is a literary work that contains the life history of a famous figure. Biography usually tells about characters who have died and those who are still alive. Biographies are written chronologically over a period of time, such as the ups and downs or ambitions of a character, but much of the biographical text still focuses on the topic and accomplishments of the character.
Kinds of Biography
1. Based on the author's side
A. Autobiography
Written by the character about his life journey.
B. Biography.
Written by someone else, based on permission to write divided into:
1. Authorized biography, namely writing a biography that asks for permission in advance, or writing a biography with the author's knowledge of the character to be discussed.
2. Invalid biography, biography written by someone without permission and the author has no knowledge of the characters to be discussed (usually because it's dead).
2. Based on the contents
Biography of Life's Journey, Complete Contents about journey of life.
Career Biography, Contains about the character's career journey in achieving certain success.
3. Based on the problems discussed
A. political biography.
That is writing written from a political point of view. In this kind of biography, the material is based on research.
B. intellectual biography
Biography compiled through research and written in a scientific writing style.
C. Journalistic biographies or literary biographies
Writing that is usually written from the information obtained from the results interviews with the characters to be written.
4. Based on publication
A. Own Book.
The publication of this book is carried out on the initiative of the publisher with all costs of writing, printing, and marketing are borne by the manufacturer. This type of biography usually contains the life stories of the characters who is expected to attract public attention.
B. Subsidy Book.
The cost of making this type of book is partly financedby sponsors. Usually this is done in books that it is estimated from a commercial point of view that they will not sell or even if it can be sold the price is so high that it's not affordable.
Things We Must Pay Attention To In Writing A Biography
1. Character Selection, The first is about the character that we will adopt. Choose from several subjects that are of potential target market or personal interest. For example, the subject that will viral, or it could be a political figure. The easiest is to make a biography on a topic you are passionate about For example, if You have a hobby or interest in singing, then look for a decent artist, for Example: Agnes Monica, Anggun C. Sasmi and so on.
2. Determine Key Facts, The next step to make a proper biography is to determine the facts of the character that we want to bring up. What is meant by facts here are ideas, ideas or thoughts that are sparked by the characters, which ultimately affect the character many people's lives. For example, Basuki Abdullah who defeated 87 painters from Europe, so that the World of Painting in Indonesia is praised and internationally appreciated.
3. Determine the theme to be developed, The following is to determine the theme that we will raise. This is important and must be considered, so that the biographies that are made do not deviate or exit the specified theme.
4. Determining Attractiveness Biography, When you make a biography about someone you don't really know, look for the strength of the character. You have to if you can recognize the character that you will make a character in the biography that you will make, why should you know that character? Because you will bring up a story about the character, if you know the details about the character, the writing you make will be interesting so that the reader has interest to share with others too.
5. Define Important Parts in life., When you're telling someone's life chronologically, it's also important to list the most important parts of their life. Because this will be the main attraction for its readers. If there are lessons that can be taken from the characters raised, this will be the strength of the writing that you make. For example: When Agus Djaya was in Europe, he had the chance to meet a very famous person, namely Pablo Picasso, and gain a lot of experience after the encounter. Well, from this incident, the reader can take a valuable lesson that, when they want to pursue a career, meet someone or an expert in their field will provide an extraordinary experience, as experienced by Agus Djaya.
Purpose of Writing a Biography
In writing a biographical text there are several objectives, including:
1. The first purpose of this biographical text is to inspire the readers that to achieving an achievement or success requires effort, hard work, prayer and trust. Which when we want to try it will definitely be achieved
2. The second objective is to motivate readers to be more active in work or do other activities seriously so that everything that is desired can be realized and later can be achieved be a successful person.
3. The next step is to provide information that every human being has advantages and disadvantages shortcomings that will make the reader aware so as not to be too fanatical in idolizing someone.
4. The purpose of the next biographical text is that it can be used as an example of the lessons experienced by the character.
Benefits of Writing a Biography
Biography can be used as a reference or life lesson because with this biography, many people have learned to live a better life. By reading biographies, we are made as if we are experiencing the events of the character. So that we can sort out what is good and what is bad so that later we will not experience mistakes in making decisions. Biography is also useful for motivating someone in achieve the dream they are pursuing.

B.J. Habibie
B. J Habibie or Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie is the third President of Indonesia. He was born on June 25, 1936 in Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi. He is the fourth of eight children in his family. His parents are Alwi Abdul Jalil Habibie and RA. Tuti Marini Puspowardojo. Since Habibie was a child, he has shown integrity and persistent behavior. Habibie's hobbies are horseback riding and reading books. Habibie's father died of a heart attack when he was still in elementary school. As a single parent, Habibie's mother worked hard to provide for the needs and needs of the family.
After graduating from high school in Bandung in 1954, he continued his studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology. However, he did not finish his studies at ITB because at the same time he received a scholarship from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to study in Germany. He decided to take aeronautical engineering with special aircraft construction at the Rhein Westfalen Aachen Technische Hochschule (RWTH), an institute of technology in Germany. The reason he chose that major is because he remembers that President Soekarno once said the importance of aircraft development for Indonesia. Seeing his mother working hard for him, it became Habibie's encouragement in trying hard to be successful. During the holidays, Habibie used the holidays to work because he wanted to earn money so he could buy books to study. Thanks to his hard work, Habibie graduated with a high score, namely 9.5 he graduated in 1960. With his educational background, he was employed in a railroad industry company, named Firma Talbot.
After that, he continued his doctorate at the Technische Hochschule Die Facultaet Fuer Maschinenwesen Aachean. Then he married Hasri Ainun in 1962. Then, Ainun followed Habibie to Germany. Habibie and Ainun have two sons. They are Ilham Akbar and Thareq Kemal. At that time, their life was not as easy as imagined, he had to work and save money by walking to the office, and he came home and then studied. However, he was able to complete his doctorate in 1965 with a perfect score of 10.
In his life, Habibie has received many achievements and awards from Indonesia and other international institutions. Before he fulfilled the call from President Suharto and returned to Indonesia, he had worked in the leading aircraft industry, MBB Gmbh, Germany. In Indonesia, Habibie has been minister of Research and Technology for 20 years and led 10 government companies in strategic industries. He was elected by the assembly of community representatives as Vice President of Indonesia. When the crisis occurred in 1998 and President Suharto insisted on stepping down from his post, Habibie was assigned to replace President Suharto as the third President of Indonesia.
In 2012, Habibie's life and how he met Ainun was filmed and received high response as an inspirational story. Hasri Ainun died on May 22, 2010 at the Ludwig Maximilians Universitat Hospital, Klinikum, Munich, Germany. She had cancer for a long time but she never told her husband, Habibie. He was found to have cancer when he fainted and had to be hospitalized. For Habibie, Ainun is everything. He is a great partner in life who has accompanied him through the good times and the difficult times in life.
