Scanning is a technique used to find out specific information in a text or a way or method of reading quickly to get certain information. This method is used when we have determined the book or text that we will read and want to quickly get accurate and specific information.

Advantages of using this technique

2. Easier to understand context

3. Increase productivity

 

Scanning Characteristcs

1. Scanning can find information quickly

2. This technique does not take much time

3. The reader only reads the part that contains the required pending information and the desired information, not other parts

4. The reader uses rapid eye movements in reading.

 

Steps to practice the scanning method

1. Determine the purpose of reading.

2. Understand how the text is formed.

3. To speed up getting information, we can look for keywords or phrases in the right place.

4. We can also use our fingers to make it easier to scan readings to make it faster and easier to get information.

5. If the keywords and information that you are looking for have been found, you can write them down in the notes.

For example, after looking at the floor plan, you want to go to the classroom which is on the second floor number 5 and the classroom is in building A. So, the words to remember are "floor 2", "number 5", and also "building A".

When we can understand the context and also save time, we become more focused on being able to optimize an activity.
